CCS-P Overview & Exam Review Prep

SUMMARY

This introductory course is designed to provide the coding skills needed to prepare for the Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P) credential. The CCS-P is a coding practitioner with expertise in physician-based settings such as physician offices, group practices, multi-specialty clinics, or specialty centers. The CCS-P credential is designed for specialists in these settings demonstrating indepth knowledge of CPT, ICD-9-CM and HCPCS Level II coding.

This course is divided into segments that include ICD-9, CPT, Evaluation and Management, and HCPCS coding as well as reimbursement guidelines and modifier usage. A total of 75 competency questions are featured at the end of this course to test your practical knowledge of the coding skills reviewed.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS NEEDED

      Access to the Internet.

       ICD-9-CM Coding Book Volumes 1-2, CPT Coding Book, and HCPCS Level II National Code Books are needed to take the practice test at the end of this course.


INSTRUCTOR

JEAN STEVENS GRAFF, RHIT, CCS-P, CPC. Jean Graff has over 25 years experience in the physician coding and reimbursement arena. She has managed an OB-GYN practice, performed freelance coding consulting, worked with teaching physician programs and is currently a coding compliance auditor with a local hospital. She has taught a coding prep course for the Ohio BWC Fraud Unit as well numerous courses at the community college level.
