PROGRAM SUMMARY

This one-day seminar will feature presentations from clinicians on topics including asthma, allergies, senile dementia, and Alzheimer's Disease. Important information about the IPPS 2010 Final Rule and OPPS/ASC PPS 2010 Proposed Rule will also be discussed along with the 2010 ICD-9 updates.

Diagnosing & Treating Asthma

Dr. Kiefer will discuss the diagnosis and treatment of asthma. He will also address the connection between allergies and asthma.

Differentiating Between and Diagnosing Dementia and Depression

Ms. Bronnert will review the 2010 code changes for ICD-9. Learn what new, deleted and revised codes will impact you and how they will affect your current coding practices.

Diagnosing and Treating Alzheimer's Disease
John Weigand, MD

Dr. Weigand, an OHIMA coding session favorite because of his entertaining and informative presentations, will present an in-depth look at Alzheimer’s disease. He will discuss the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and care of the Alzheimer's patient. He will also address the question of the clinical difference between senile dementia and Alzheimer's disease.





In an attempt to reduce consumption and waste, a CD of speaker handouts and online access will be provided instead of printed handouts.

All pre-registrants will have advance access to the seminar handouts. An email notice will be sent to all registrants on Monday, 9/21 providing instructions on how to access, download and print the seminar handouts. Seminar handouts will not be available onsite.


CE CREDITS

This program meets the AHIMA CE Guidelines for 6.0 hours of continuing education in the HIM Domain of Clinical Foundations.

This program is also is approved for 6.0 hours Continuing Education Units from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION FEES (after 9/21, fees increase $15)

$125 for OHIMA Members (Current active AHIMA members residing in or choosing Ohio as state association).
$150 for Non-OHIMA Members
$ 35 for OHIMA Student/Senior Members* (Current student/senior AHIMA members residing in or choosing Ohio as state association - see below for further student definition).
$ 35 for active DQRC Members (Active DQRC members identified as eligible by DQRC Chairperson). VIEW policy stipulating who qualifies for this discount.

* DEFINITION OF STUDENT MEMBER: Students who do not have an AHIMA credential and have not previously been Active members of AHIMA and have chosen Ohio as state association. Must also meet at least one of two educational criterias:
    1. currently enrolled in an accredited CAHIIM HIM program
    2. currently enrolled in an approved AHIMA medical coding program
Note that 'New Graduate Members' do not qualify for the student rate.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE

Register by Monday, 9/21/09 to receive the Early Bird discount. Fees increase $15 as of 9/22/09. If paying by check, registration and payment must be postmarked and mailed no later than September 18th. After this date, only credit card payments will be accepted through Wednesday, 9/23. Onsite registrations will be accepted but will incur an additional $15 fee. Credit card payments will be not be accepted onsite - only cash or check.

Whether paying by credit card or check, please register and complete the online registration form. If paying by check, when you complete the online registration you will be given the option to select 'pay by check.' You will then be instructed to mail registration confirmation and check to OHIMA.


CANCELLATION POLICY

Registration fees will be refunded (less a $20 processing fee) if notice is received by Friday, September 18, 2009. No refund will be issued for cancellations received after this date. Substitutions of registrants is permitted, please contact OHIMA with your name and the name, employer, and title of your substitute.


SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Tabletop exhibit space is available for $500 (for one session) or $750 (for both sessions. Sponsorship includes:
    6-foot draped table for display in rear of session(s).
    Dedicated display time: 8:30-9:00am (Continental Breakfast); 12:00pm - 1:00pm (Lunch)
    Opportunity to present brief overview of product/services to audience prior to opening session(s).
