Greater Cincinnati Health Information Management
Association
Board
Meeting
February, 28 2006
Executive Board Members: Pam
Greenstone, President, Carrie Newport-Secretary, Gail Smith, University of
Cincinnati liaison, Sherri Mallett, Cincinnati State liaison, and Theresa
Hooker and Glenda Denson- co-President-Elects, June Bronnert, Treasurer, Carla
Nadeja, Past President, and Candy Grannis, Network Director met.
The state of our GCHIMA
Association was discussed:
- GCHIMA is holding all future elections online through OHIMA.
The extended deadline for nominating candidates is February 28th,
with no President-Elect candidates nominated.
- All board members discussed which direction to take GCHIMA with
lack of future leadership in an effort to prevent termination of GCHIMA..
- Discussed possible reasons for declining participation in
GCHIMA, and how we need to change to continue meeting members’ needs.
- Gail suggested that instead of an official board, there be a
program committee of approximately 8 members. This would begin by each
current board member nominating a program committee member.
- Due to the difficulty of finding affordable meeting rooms and a
lack of leadership, the suggestion was made to decrease the number of
meetings per year.
- Suggestion made that GCHIMA should no longer have quarterly
meetings but instead an annual Spring Workshop and a Fall Workshop.
- Each workshop will carry a fee eliminating need for annual
dues.
- The program committee will continue to have a Treasurer and
Committee Leader, however all committee members will be responsible for
carrying out duties as needed by GCHIMA i.e. seeking out speakers and
meeting rooms, deciding topics, etc.
- This conclusion is tentative upon approval by OHIMA. Pam will
seek Amy Dotts’s approval before carrying out plan.
