Board Meeting

July 1, 2006

Executive Board Members: Carrie Newport-Secretary, Gail Smith, University of Cincinnati liaison, Theresa Hooker and Glenda Denson- co-President-Elects, June Bronnert, Treasurer, Carla Nadeja, Past President, and Candy Grannis, Network Director met.

• No students applied for the annual scholarship GCHIMA gives away. GCHIMA will make a donation to the University of Cincinnati for online tutoring for students in the RHIA program to provide educational support in lieu of the scholarship.
• GCHIMA would like to forge a relationship with Cincinnati State and University of Cincinnati to help support GCHIMA’s purpose.
• GCHIMA will aim to expand membership by targeting outside the HIM profession including the community and students such as holding meetings at a senior citizen center.
• There will now be a Spring and Fall Workshop only—doing away with the weeknight meetings.
• The program committee will include networking into each workshop i.e. discussion tables manned by a facilitator.
• Dues will no longer be paid annually. A predetermined fee will be paid before each meeting.
• We will seek out higher profile speakers give them compensation for speaking at workshops.
• The upcoming Fall Workshop was planned with duties distributed.
• Carrie will contact Tobi Wood to get a list of members who are on the OHIMA e-mail blast.
• All board members will make bylaws changes and send to Carla.
