Sepsis Webinar by Erica Remer, MD, CCDS

Sepsis is one of the most common MS-DRG diagnoses and accounts for one out of every three inpatient deaths. Despite a standard definition of "life-threatening organ dysfunction due to dysregulated host response to infection," there is still great variability in how clinicians make the diagnosis and document patient encounters. Dr. Erica Remer will simplify the concepts, using case-based examples, and will give tricks and tips as to how to recognize sepsis, how to get clinicians to document it to support accurate coding, and how to perform clinical validation. The ultimate consequence of accurate sepsis diagnosing, documenting, and coding is to optimize quality metrics, reimbursement, and denials management.
