Dr. Melissa Koehler, DHA, MBA, RHIA, CHDA, CDIP, CCS, CCS-P, CCDS, CSBI, CRCR, CSPR, is a Health Information professional with an extensive career in various revenue cycle leadership roles. She is the AVP of Health Information Management for Inova Health System. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and a Fellow of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management from The College of Saint Scholastica, an MBA from Tusculum University, and a doctoral degree in healthcare administration from the Virginia University of Lynchburg. Dr. Koehler is a member of the Health Informatics Advisory Board Council at Morehouse School of Medicine, the AHIMA House of Delegates, and the AHIMA Annual Program Committee Chairperson.

Carmel Murphy, RN, BSN, Sr. Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity, brings over 30 years of healthcare experience, including more than two decades dedicated to advancing Clinical Documentation Integrity. Her leadership spans inpatient and outpatient CDI, healthcare technology innovation, and ambulatory quality. With a strong foundation in nursing and a deep understanding of risk adjustment and healthcare operations, Carmel is a trusted voice among healthcare leaders seeking to improve documentation practices, quality outcomes, and organizational performance.

 

 

Patience Amartey, RHIT, Sr. Director HIM Operations is an accomplished health information management executive with over 21 years of experience leading operational transformation across acute and post-acute care settings. As Senior Director of HIM Operations for Inova Health System, she provides strategic oversight for enterprise-wide HIM functions, including compliance, document management, and EHR optimization. Known for building high-performing teams and advancing cross-functional collaboration, Patience has led system-wide initiatives that enhance workflow efficiency, regulatory readiness, and provider engagement. Her areas of expertise include privacy compliance, staff development, accreditation standards, and the integration of health IT into clinical operations.

PRESENTATION 2: Data Analytics

Amber Detty, DHA, CHDA, received her bachelor’s in Sociology from Berea College, her master’s in Sociology from The Ohio State University, and recently received her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration from Franklin University. Amber has almost 20 years of experience in healthcare analytics, beginning her career as a research and policy analyst with the Ohio Department of Health before moving into managed care over a decade ago. She has worked on both the provider side, as a manager of analytics for an accountable care organization created through a mutual agreement of four large health systems in South Carolina, as well as the payer side for two managed care companies comprised of multiple state Medicaid, Medicare, and Exchange plans. Amber currently serves as Director of State Performance Outcomes and Reporting for AmeriHealth Caritas, focusing on quality improvement initiatives across several states. She currently lives in Wilmington, Ohio with her spouse and two dogs.

Kristin Maple is a Senior Analyst in Information Security and Risk at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. With over a decade of experience in healthcare compliance and risk management, she brings a practical perspective on aligning security frameworks with real-world operations. Kristin also mentors HIM students and facilitates leadership training on risk communication.
